Red Hots Gelatin Salad – I did not create this recipe.  I found it in an old Taste of Home magazine over 10 years ago.  I have been enjoying it ever since, and by sharing it … I hope you will too!

Ingredients
  • 13 oz package cherry gelatin
  • cups boiling water, divided
  • ¼cup Red Hots candies
  • ¼cup + 1½ teaspoons cold water
  • 1cup chopped green apples
  • 1cup chopped celery
  • ½cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
  1. Dissolve gelatin in 1 cup boiling water.
  2. In another bowl, dissolve Red Hots candies in the remaining ½ cup water. Once dissolved, stir into the gelatin mixture.
  3. Stir in cold water and refrigerate until slightly thickened – about 1 hour.
  4. Fold in the chopped apples, celery and walnuts.
  5. Pour into a 4-cup mold, coated with cooking spray. Refrigerate for a few hours to set, or overnight.
