I like to make my own seasonings whenever possible – even though several still have to be bought at the grocery store. There are a special few that I make on a regular basis – such as this all-purpose House Seasoning. It is wonderful on most types of meats, and could also be used on a variety of vegetables as well. However, there probably is not one particular seasoning that is suitable for all types of foods, so bear that in mind when experimenting with different recipes. Even so, I think you will enjoy this versatile House Seasoning quite a bit.
As far as to the source of this recipe, I am not quite sure of its true origin. I have seen it on Paula Dean’s website, and also on Emeril Lagasse’s website. I found it on a scrap of paper in a cookbook, tried it … and have liked it ever since. Now, if you find that the salt content is too strong for your taste, then I would reduce it to 3/4 cup (instead of 1 cup). Either kosher or regular table salt may be used.
