With the short cherry season upon us, I thought it would be prudent to write about the OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter. It is a neat little tool that will make your life in the kitchen so much easier, especially when it comes to pitting cherries or olives. Put simply, this gadget really works … and is truly fun to use!
It is dishwasher safe; however, it cleans up so efficiently with a quick rinse under the faucet that I just hand wash mine every time! With a soft and non-slip grip, it is very comfortable to hold and use – even for my old fingers and joints.
The OXO Pitter is made of sturdy, die-cast zinc construction, allowing it to remove pits with ease. The compartment that holds the cherries is large, so it has no problem with larger cherry varieties – such as Bing and Rainier.
The Splatter Shield helps protect work areas from juices, and as a nice bonus – the Splatter Shield can be removed for a more thorough cleaning if needed. The handles are soft and very comfortable – making an easy task out of cherry pitting! The non-slip handles absorb all the pressure, and pitting one cherry is literally done in mere seconds!
You can learn more about the OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter here, along with a short video presentation. They come in a choice of two colors, Black or Red. When not in use, they easily close-up for tidy storage in your kitchen drawer or cabinet. I’ve spent far more money on other kitchen tools than this little gem, only to find out later that they don’t work very well. For less than $15, the OXO Cherry Pitter is a real bargain!
Like most people, we absolutely love cherries … but are not too thrilled with all their pits! It’s a messy process to pit them by hand, and embarrassing to spit out if you don’t. It now appears; however, that we no longer have that dilemma! The OXO Good Grips Cherry and Olive Pitter has solved all our disdain for the dreaded pit!
This really is one kitchen tool that lives up to its name. My husband was even impressed with it – from its ease and comfort of use – to how it neatly disposes of the pit. Pick up one today; you will be so happy you did. 🙂
