With money so tight these days, it is wonderful when you stumble upon an idea that saves you money, and time! I recently found out about a couple of websites that make dining at a restaurant a bit easier on the budget. Sounds interesting, right?
The one that most impressed me was http://www.opentable.com/. Their concept is simple; yet unique. Basically it rewards you if you book your restaurant reservations directly through them, and not through the restaurant. They use a computerized reservation book (the same one the restaurant host uses when booking reservations.) OpenTable has live internet connections to the restaurant, so availability information is always up-to-date. Your reservations get confirmed instantly.
The nice bonus; however, is that OpenTable members can earn dining rewards for reservations that they make, and keep. The rewards (or points) can then be later redeemed for OpenTable dining cheques. These cheques can be used at any OpenTable restaurant.
Now, are you thinking that the restaurants they are referring to are places you have never heard of? I was thinking the same thing … but not to worry. Some of the most favorite restaurants in Tampa Bay are on their list – like Seasons 52, Columbia Restaurant, Maggianos, Ocean Prime, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and more!!
Reservations typically earn about 100 points; however, you can earn as much as 1000 points at certain restaurants, during certain times! Typically a 2000 point reward is equivalent to $20 US dollars. Not bad when I consider how many times I make reservations – if I had only known. Well, I do now – and so do you!
Check out their website for more info. Obviously, if you do a “no show” or cancel your reservation, then nothing is accumulated. You must be a member to earn and accumulate the reward points – so what are you waiting for? Become a member today; it’s free when you make your first reservation!
The other website worth a few minutes of your time is www.Restaurant.com. Did you know that you can pay just $10 for a restaurant gift certificate that is worth $25? They have a list of participating restaurants on their site – just check what is available by your state or zip code.
I hope you enjoy your meal, and do think of me when you start earning your bonus rewards! Bon appetite …
