January 27th is National Chocolate Cake Day! It probably is not a holiday most folks know about, but it certainly is one that you can sink your teeth into. Pictured in this post is Hershey’s “Perfectly Chocolate” Chocolate Cake, with “Perfectly Chocolate” Chocolate Frosting, covering every delicious inch of it. Both the cake, and the frosting, is made with Hershey’s Cocoa. Here is the recipe, which can be found at Hershey’s Kitchens website – boasting some great reviews. It is one of the best Chocolate Cakes I have ever tasted.
One little secret I picked up a few years ago was to use cocoa powder, instead of flour, for dusting your baking pans. After greasing your pans, dust them lightly with cocoa powder. When they come out of the oven, the cocoa color and goodness blends beautifully with the cake. Sometimes, when using flour, they come out of the pan with a white powdery look. Using cocoa powder works just as well, with better looking (and tasting) results.
Another little tip …
If you want to be sure that your cakes do not stick to the bottom of your round cake pans, then you might like the convenience of using parchment paper liners. They save you quite a bit of time, and make the gentle task of extracting your cakes from the pans a breeze! To me, they are worth every penny.
Whatever flavor of chocolate cake you prefer, from Flourless Chocolate to Raspberry Chocolate Buttercream cakes – there surely will be one or two other recipes on my Pinterest Board that you might also like. Enjoy National Chocolate Cake Day … it’s not too late to bake up some goodness for you and your family. Remember, some of the best things in life come straight out of an oven 🙂
