July 4th Desserts for Children

Holidays | 4th of July | Desserts | Children | No Cooking, No Dishes, Only 3 Ingredients! Just a perfect little treat for Children!

A few years ago I posted a July 4th Jell-O Dessert for children; however, I have recently not been able to find the Jell-O Handi-Snacks in my grocery store anymore. This year I updated my methods and made the July 4th Desserts for Children with the Dole Mixed Fruit in Cherry Gel cups.  I bought the sugar-free gel this time, trying to keep everyone’s sugar levels from topping the charts!  I actually like that these cups have fruit in them, unlike the previous Jell-O Handi-Snacks that I had used.

What makes this treat so great to make is that there is absolutely no cooking (not even boiling water) and no baking. You don’t dirty up any dishes – saving you valuable clean-up time.  More amazingly, you don’t even have to buy paper cups or plates. The Dole Gel Cups are just that – cups! They are not only the treat, but the dish too.  Being that the cups are made of plastic – this is the perfect vessel for children – since you won’t have to be afraid that they might break a glass or dish.

Your total prep time is mere minutes, and they keep in the refrigerator for days. These unbreakable little treats are perfect for toddlers and young children.

You only need three ingredients – Dole Mixed Fruit in Cherry Gel Cups – Red, White & Blue Sprinkles – and Cool Whip.  That’s it!

  • Simply peel off the Gel Cup’s top seal.
  • Apply a layer of Cool Whip to the Gel.
  • Apply some sprinkles.  That’s it!

Holidays | July 4th | Desserts | Kids - No cooking, no dishes, just 3 easy ingredients that make up the most perfect treats for children!I tested them out for a couple of days, and they kept perfectly in the refrigerator without any wrapping. You could also use blueberries, raspberries and/or strawberries on top if that is your preference.  (If you use fruit, then I would not let them sit for a couple of days as the fruit color will be absorbed in the Cool Whip.)

The top photo in this post is what the finished cups look like with nothing but the three ingredients I mentioned.  In the photo to the left, I used some cupcake liners and patriotic picks to embellish it even more, but it certainly is not necessary (especially for kids).

Seriously, I can’t think of anything easier.

No cooking, no baking, no plastic cups to buy – just three ingredients.

Prep time is so quick it’s almost embarrassing.  And the best part? Your kids will love them!
