The Fostoria Glass Company produced a beautiful glass pattern, called Sunray, in the mid-1930’s. With gorgeous ribs, ridged edges, and intricate handles – it offers the savvy hostess an opportunity to set a formal table with a tailored look. The 2510 Sunray pattern has an Art Deco look, and is one of my most favorite glass patterns. Sunray offered a large variety of items; therefore, one could set a complete dinner service entirely out of this one pattern.
Primarily made in Glacier and clear crystal, limited quantities are also available in Ruby and Golden Glow. Very rare pieces can be found in a light shade of Blue, Green, etc. The Glacier pieces (with Silver Mist ribs) are the most abundant and were very popular. The Golden Glow decoration is a beautiful yellow or gold color, and the Ruby (as featured in this post) is a vibrant red color. The Ruby treasures are wonderful for a variety of holidays – from Valentine’s Day to Christmas!
The Sunray pattern offered Nappy dishes (bowls) in different designs – from flared sides, to a square shape, a three-cornered variation, and more! The Handled Nappy – Flared, is approximately 6 inches in diameter and offers a beautifully tailored handle on one side of the dish. This treasure was produced from approximately 1935-1940.
