Leaves Falling, Autumn Calling … it truly does not take much time or effort to get your home-sweet-home ready for the autumn season. For example, by simply switching out your summer throws with more bulky and colorful fall blankets and/or afghans – this one little activity will instantly add warmth and beauty to your space. It takes mere minutes, but the impact is dramatic! Add a few pumpkins or harvest blooms, and you have a cozy setting worthy of the season.
When decorating for Fall, please don’t overlook table chargers. They come in a wealth of colors, from hammered copper to just about any other hue you can imagine. This year I am doing something a bit different, and it plays out with a little surprise for my dinner guests. I chose these brightly colored chargers, with an orange pumpkiny hue. Their colors change at different times of the day, and are gorgeous in a candle-lit environment. While I like their harvest color, what I like best about them is the warm-hearted saying that pops up when our dinner guests lift their plates from the chargers. Before heading to the buffet table, they unassumingly pick up their plates – and then the message “Eat, Drink, and be Thankful” presents itself.
It’s the perfect message before dining with family and friends. And, if I choose not to use them under the dinner plates, that’s fine too. They will still look just as gorgeous propped up in the dining hutch as a decorative element – displaying a heartfelt sentiment. These particular chargers were purchased at our local Michaels craft store.
The same logic goes for any household textiles – such as table linens, towels or napkins. While I have quite an assortment to choose from, one of my favorites are the Happy Fall Towels. Bright and whimsical, they bring just the right tonal color to our Fall table. For a casual dinner, I find them to be a perfect fit. They also will be very useful to have right on hand – at the table – if an unfortunate accident should prevail.
Many colorful styles abound … some with adorable sayings … others with just beautiful graphics and colors. Be sure to use them on your table and kitchen counter. It’s the little things that make a big difference.
