Simple July 4th Jell-O Desserts for Children

Please Note:  I have an updated version of this dessert posted on my website, as I can no longer find the Jell-O Handi-Snacks in my grocery store.  If you still can purchase them in your vicinity, just follow my post below :-).

I recently posted a July 4th Jell-O dessert for adults, so I thought it only fair that I post one for children as well.  You will only need three ingredients  – Jell-O Handi-Snacks in Red and/or Blue flavors, red/white/blue sprinkles and Cool Whip.  That’s it!

What makes this treat so great to make is that there is absolutely no cooking (not even boiling water) and no baking. You don’t dirty up any dishes – saving you valuable clean-up time.  More amazingly, you don’t even have to buy paper cups or plates. The Jell-O cups are just that – cups! They are not only the treat, but the dish too.

Your total prep time is mere minutes, and they keep in the refrigerator for days. These unbreakable little treats are perfect for toddlers and young children.

Apply a layer of Cool Whip to the top of the Jell-O cup.

Apply some sprinkles to the top and place in the refrigerator. I tested them out for a couple of days, and they kept perfectly in the refrigerator without any wrapping.  You could also use blueberries, raspberries and/or strawberries on top if that is your preference.  (If you use fruit, then I would not let them sit for a couple of days as the fruit color will be absorbed in the Cool Whip.)

Seriously, I can’t think of anything easier.  No cooking, no baking, no plastic cups to buy – just three ingredients.  Prep time is so quick it’s almost embarrassing.  And the best part? Your kids will love them!
